Are You Interested In Time Travel?

How about we meet up at 7pm last Thursday? No I haven’t lost my marbles and I know time travel doesn’t exist, but I think a lot of people would eagerly anticipate a version of Quantum Leap were we can undo the mistakes of the past or jump into the future to have a quick peek at what was ahead. We all love a good trailer for the latest movie, but why is that we are so prepared to watch a trailer which might contain a spoiler to all the best parts. I’ll come back to this in a bit because it’s the impossible version that I want to deal with first

Is there any good reason that we as people spend so much time at looking at the past? Regret, mistakes, lost loved ones, nostalgia, all valid reasons to take a look over our shoulders into the past. In truth it doesn’t help us to move forward, in fact most the time it just holds us back. I know looking to the future through the past can help with a whole host of things in life, but the truth is we can’t alter what’s gone on in the past so dwelling on it can be such a negative experience. Whatever has anchored you in the past, you need to disconnect it and reconnect it to something in the future. When we focus on negative events of the past we keep attracting them into our current predicaments and it becomes a vicious circle that’s hard to break.

As Doc Brown said “Marty it’s time to get back to the future”. Take stock of your life and stop focusing on what’s going wrong for you. Stop thinking about the things you don’t want and start focusing on what you do want. It’s absolutely clear in mind that people manifest the things that they think about. If you keep focusing on what you fear, there is no doubt it will become your reality. Whatever has gone on in your past you need to wipe it out and start with a blank canvas? Looking to future is as easy as starting off with being thankful for the good things you currently have going on for you. Stop going through the week on autopilot, if something is niggling away at you about an issue in your life, make sure you address it. Your body has a natural feedback mechanism for when things are not right in your world. Even if you think nothing will come of it just by acting on it will put you in the right direction.

As for the future, we know we can’t predict that, but it helps when we have something to look forward to. If you have something that is absolutely clear in your mind you can be sure it will manifest in some shape or form. Have you ever had a thought about a person, place or thing and before you know it they appear in your life. Someone calls you on your mobile and you were only thinking about them the week before. Is that just a pure coincidence? We need to avoid being a prisoner of our own thoughts. To change your current circumstances you need to start changing your thinking. Doesn’t matter what you want down the road. It’s immaterial how big or small it is. If you focus on it you give yourself a better chance of making it materialise.

On that note I’ll leave you with my thoughts on the movie trailer. Its gives us an air of anticipation and excitement, you hope the movie will be as exciting and fulfilling as the 2 minute snippet. It helps to make the main event come quicker. If we could apply that to goals in our life wouldn’t it help with the frustration of waiting for something good to come along?
