Can You Increase Your Earning Potential?

Last Friday a friend of mine quit his job, after 12 years working in Finance. He went out on his own to pursue a career as a Tennis Coach. I asked him how he was feeling about it, this is what he wrote back. “Bit apprehensive, but also excited about the challenge ahead. Life’s too short to be following the crowd, when you can do something you really love doing!” In my opinion these few short words sum up, and show the best way we can all increase our earning potential. While there are no guarantees in life that everything you try will work out, you can be sure all the hardship in the crossover will help to facilitate the changes that are necessary to get you to where you want to be.

Are you in the large percentage of people who sit around on a Sunday evening dreading going to work the next day? Do you spend all your energy on wishing the week away and in essence wishing your life away? Do you work a 40+ hour week with the only motivation being the pay cheque at the end of the week? Imagine being in a place where what you did for a living wasn’t considered a chore, that you didn’t spend every hour waiting to get home. For me personally, my drive is based around being able to choose the hours I want to work. Once I figured this out, I found it much easier to start making the changes that were needed.

So how do you set about earning the most you can earn? Most people go through life believing that they don’t know what’s best for them, from a young age we are told to choose a profession, years of conditioning then causes us to fear change. My opinion is most people already KNOW what’s best for themselves, they just need to learn to trust their own intuition and have the courage and willingness to backup that belief. Sometimes you have trust that if something is right for you then it won’t pass you by. What you need to do is figure out your own truth. We take so much advice from others that sometimes we forget the only person that knows what is best for you, is you.

Once you find your own truth, and believe me you really have to look for it because no one is going to be able to tell you what it is. Then you need to figure out the best way forward for you. The easiest way to carry this out is to ensure whatever you choose to do, is carried out with the best of intention, because ultimately if you can’t do it wholeheartedly then you are going to end up back at square one pretty quickly. Follow your instincts, if you can get past the constraint of the fear of things going wrong, then a whole world of possibilities will open up for you.

At the end of the day success is subjective, for some it maybe a financial thing, for others they may find reward in having a sense of fulfillment. You need to learn how to change your thoughts, actions and words, this will strengthen your skills on a daily basis giving you the confidence to grow. This doesn’t mean you won’t have bad days, but you will learn to be ok with them. These are your first steps to creating an abundance of whatever you want.
